Roads & Parking

I live within the main event. What do I need to know?

We will be writing to all residents directly affected by the Armed Forces Day National Event in order to accommodate their needs. We will not be able to allow the movement of vehicles from Foreshore Road, West Pier, Sandside and Quay Street once the closures are in place.

Should you require use of your vehicle it is recommended that you use one of the surrounding parking places which we will provide use of free of charge while access to your property is restricted.

Why are streets and car parks being closed for such a long period of time?

We need to ensure that all streets within the event footprint are clear in order to allow sufficient time for the set up and then de rig of the event.

Therefore, we need to ensure that all car parks are cleared by 6am on Saturday 27 June. Access will not be allowed to affected car parks after 6pm on Friday.

What happens if I don’t move my vehicle before?

All vehicles must be moved by the times detailed on the closure list. Any vehicles still on site will be removed and a charge may be made for recovery of your vehicle.

Can I leave my car parked as I have a blue badge?

Unfortunately not. All vehicles will have to be moved from the event area. We appreciate this may cause some inconvenience, but this is unavoidable. Arrangements are being made for anyone with special medical requirements. This is a once in a lifetime event in Scarborough and we hope you will join in and enjoy what will be an incredible spectacle for the area.

Will I get a refund on my parking for the days I can’t park?

No. Alternative parking will be made available where appropriate.

How will deliveries get to me during the event?

There will be no access for deliveries on the roads affected by the closures. We will be writing to all businesses affected by the closures in due course. We would advise that deliveries are re-scheduled.

Will you provide compensation?

No.

What arrangements have been made for blue light emergency vehicles during the parade?

Blue light services will be able to access any location around the route at any time for an emergency. If access becomes necessary during the parade, the parade will be stopped immediately.
