Parkdean Resorts champions the Armed Forces community

Parkdean Resorts, the UK’s largest holiday park operator, is set to sponsor this year’s Armed Forces Day National Event in Scarborough as part of its ongoing work in supporting Serving Personnel, both Regular and Reservists, Veterans and military families.

As a strong advocate of the contribution and sacrifices those in the Armed Forces make, Parkdean Resorts runs a number of initiatives to support the Armed Forces community and is currently working towards achieving the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award.

Parkdean Resorts recognises the transferrable skills of Armed Forces Veterans and endeavours to aid service personnel in the resettlement process. The company regularly attends CTP employment fairs across the UK and advertises roles in Army Reserve centres to provide a variety of employment options for those looking for work. Parkdean Resorts offers training and development to enhance the many skills and qualities Veterans bring to the business. Parkdean also advertises roles to military family members through the Forces Families Jobs site.

The company has also partnered with the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, and the Army Central Fund to offer specially selected serving personnel and their families holiday breaks across nineteen holiday parks in the UK in 2022. The breaks include free accommodation, entertainment passes, and a discount on food and beverages at restaurants and bars on park. The breaks are awarded, not only as recognition of the Service Person, but also their families, for the extraordinary sacrifices and support they provide whilst their spouses, partners and loved ones are deployed around the globe, and for families that may have gone through difficult times and where time away may help. The partnership has amounted to 450 holidays in total this year.

In addition to offering free holiday breaks, Parkdean Resorts selected SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity, as its charity of the year in 2022, raising much needed funds for Armed Forces families through various fundraising events, including donating 50% of all breakfast sales on its 66 parks the morning of Monday 20th June during Armed Forces Week.

Steve Richards, CEO, Parkdean Resorts, said: “Our work with the Armed Forces is a source of tremendous pride for the business and we’re delighted to be sponsoring this year’s Armed Forces Day National Event. We recognise the contribution and sacrifices of the Armed Forces personnel and their families, and sharing our strong sense of belonging and team energy, the value they can bring to us. We take pride in building our industry leading partnership with them and in support, commit to proudly honour the Armed Forces Covenant. We have huge admiration for the work they do and the sacrifices they and their families make, and we are thrilled to support in any way we can.”

Parkdean Resorts was also a headline sponsor of the inaugural Celebrating Forces Families Awards earlier this year, an awards ceremony which focuses purely on celebrating the valued support of military families.
