Scarborough Branch of the Royal British Legion to Host Gala dinner on the Eve of Armed Forces Day 2026

Scarborough will once again come together in proud support of the Armed Forces community as the Scarborough Branch of the Royal British Legion hosts its prestigious “Night Before Armed Forces Day – Gala Dinner” on Friday 26 June 2026 at the iconic Scarborough Spa, Ocean Room.

Kindly sponsored by Happy Futures Support Specialists, this flagship event promises an evening of remembrance, celebration, and community spirit—all in aid of the 2026 Poppy Appeal.

Guests will be welcomed from 6:00pm, with a special pre-dinner reception held in the Sun Court. Here, attendees will enjoy drinks whilst being entertained by the Corps of Drums of the Scarborough Sea Cadets, alongside traditional piping evocative of the Sharpe’s Rifles era, performed by Philip Woods of the Yorkshire Corps of Drums. The evening will then be formally marked by a stirring bugle call to dinner.

Dinner will be called at 6:45pm, with guests enjoying a carefully curated three-course meal, featuring:

Starter: Chicken liver parfait or tomato and basil soup (v)

Main Course: Slow-braised tender brisket of beef or roasted sweet potato, spinach, mushroom and coconut curry (v)

Dessert: Raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake

(Dietary requirements can be catered for.)

Adding a truly special dimension to the evening, guests will have the chance to meet some of the renowned Royal Hospital Chelsea Pensioners, with an exceptional auction prize on offer: an iconic experience for four people to be hosted by the Chelsea Pensioners at their barracks—just one of many outstanding items available to bid for on the night.

The evening will continue with a raffle and auction, offering guests the opportunity to support the Poppy Appeal in a lively and engaging way. With dancing, entertainment, and much more, the Gala Dinner promises not only “great fayre and company” but also a genuine sense of fun in fun(d)raising.

Tickets are priced at £45 per person, with carriages at 1:00am.

Sponsorship opportunities remain available, and donations of suitable raffle or auction prizes are warmly welcomed.
